The Wright stuff: oyster house to open in South Kensington

They’ve conquered Soho, Spitalfields and Borough Market; now it’s the west’s turn, as the Wright Brothers announce they are due to open an oyster house in South Kensington this June.

Sticking to their tried and tested ‘sea-to-plate’ formula of menus packed with locally cultivated oysters and fruits-de-mer alongside regularly changing specials, the group will also debut its first independent bar, beneath the restaurant, where wine and cocktails will be served with the award-winning oysters.

Robin Hancock — one half of the Wright Brothers duo — says, “we have always wanted to open in South Kensington; it feels like that little corner of Paris where we first began to dream about re-popularising the oyster in London.” In the Old Brompton Road space, formerly occupied by La Bouchée, diners can expect interiors not dissimilar to those at the Borough restaurant; the design is by Brady Williams, who, we’re told, will be maximising the space’s floor-to-ceiling windows and fireplace to full effect.
