Tracing the life of prodigious talent Yves Saint Laurent who took over from his mentor, the mighty Christian Dior, at the tender age of 21, this film not only focuses on the pioneering role he played in fashion but sheds light on his turbulent personal life.


Blighted by spells of manic depression, dependency on alcohol and drugs, but held together by his relationship with Pierre Bergé – bodyguard come business partner come boyfriend – his was a somewhat complicated and colourful existence.
