Believe it or not, London Fashion Week is an extremely taxing business. With all the darting between shows, various late-night soirées (never as fun as they look) and endless air kissing, spare a thought for those poor fashion folk, forced to feign delight over sequin after sequin, day after day. Adding to the misery is the meagre availability of good food to fuel the fun, though considering this crowd it’s hardly a huge problem; wasn’t it Mrs Moss that once said nothing tastes as good as skinny feels?
Thankfully, this season a happy medium has been introduced. In an effort to break from the regular fashion week diet of champagne and Marlboro Lights, Marylebone’s 108 Pantry has introduced a gluten-free Afternoon Tea, available from Friday 20th February until Tuesday 24th February. Served between noon and 6pm, the spread is priced at £12.50 per person, and includes a selection of fashionista-friendly (read: not too fattening) treats, such as lemon polenta drizzle cake, flourless chocolate cake, gluten-free macaroons and rosewater meringues, served with a glass of Nyetimber Classic Cuvée sparkling wine. Those not overly enamoured by the dainty servings might want to look towards the restaurant’s lunch menu with its decidedly more meaty offerings of steak, club sandwiches and pasta.
