Tara P-T, Spencer Matthews, Jamie ‘biscuits’ Laing and Oliver Proudlock are hardly strangers to the slopes, undoubtedly never contemplating a year sans the annual Klosters/Val d’Isère break. Or have ever conceived of a gap ‘yah’ minus a ‘todally awesome’ season in Meribel. So they must have felt doubly at home last month as Skiing With Heroes held its Junior Committee Awareness Party at Bodo’s Schloss on Kensington High Street. The venue’s alpine theme – built precisely for those experiencing ‘après’ withdrawals; a state we can but imagine the MIC brigade near constantly suffer – was thus, the perfect location for the Skiing With Heroes charity event.
But the night was not all about who could display the best panda-eyed snow tan or down the most number of Jägerbombs. There was actually a serious edge to the affair, as Skiing With Heroes helps wounded veterans back into employment through ‘ski-habilitation’. The event was all about raising awareness while, naturally, downing Mahiki coconut cocktails and ski-themed canapés.
Between slurps, guests also learnt about the charity’s fundraiser, The Business Challenge, which will take place in Klosters from 7th to 11th January 2015 and will see over twenty teams, consisting of four individuals from some of the UK’s biggest businesses, challenge the Skiing With Heroes veterans in a race of skill, wits and style over speed.
The challenge is on…
