Trendy men’s store, Woodhouse, last month ushered hairy-faced, sneaker-savvy gents (and ladies – minus the facial forests) through its doors for the official launch of New Balance’s Barbershop trainers. With Carter and Bond, the cheeky lil’ barber shop nestled in the basement, there were free shaves thrown in for good measure, plus bite-size nibbly bits circulating and G&Ts knocked up with Boxer gin – all to the tune of DJs throwing out Hip Hop.
The sneakers certainly stole the show. Classic barber shops are springing up all around London right now, and the mighty New Balance brand has captured the trend in its latest launch. The Elite Edition Barbershop Pack comes in three styles – the 1600, 999 and 580 – and in a trio of traditional barbershop shades; red, grey and blue. They sport quirky red, blue and white-striped aglets and black and white checkered inserts too – reminiscent of vintage barber shop floors.
Snap them up for £90-£100; they’re a great sartorial addition, whether you’re a jeans and bomber kind of gal or flannels and jacket guy.
