More than 20 years since it was founded, porcelain specialist Mud Australia has finally arrived in the UK and where better for the creative brand to establish its European flagship than west London? The store, located in Connaught Village, hosts the full ceramic range in 17 colours and more than 80 styles, alongside extremely covetable lines of glassware, cutlery and linens. The range, designed by Shelley Simpson, is all handmade in Sydney by in-house ceramicists, who use Limoges porcelain sourced directly from France which is then hand brushed with a clear glaze on the interior while the exterior is left with a vitrified stone-like surface. It’s all exclusively presented against a backdrop of the Vitsœ 606 Universal Shelving System, an iconic furniture range designed by Dieter Rams. But try to temper your excitement: the phrase ‘bull in a china shop’ exists for a reason.
