Look Out Spielberg… The Electric Cinema’s Unmissable Film-Making Classes For Children

The yawning stretch of a six-week school holiday is once more upon us, but for hillbilly bairns, the summer represents more than simply an opportunity to lounge about in Holland Park.

Clapper boards at the ready; the Electric Cinema is giving aspirant Kubricks the chance to make their directorial debuts with a duo of film workshops. Get Smart presents ‘Lights, Camera, Fireworks!’ which teaches tiny Tarantinos about special FX, while ‘Let’s Animate’ instructs in the art of creating animated worlds (think pursuant dinosaurs, explosions and their ilk).

Neither workshop will admit more than 12 film protégés, so that mini masters of the silverscreen have the undivided attention of the two tutors on hand; plus all work will be done on iPads, so that children can practice their new skills when they get home. The best bit? All the work produced will be aired on the Electric’s big screen, a premiere that friends and family will be invited to attend.

That’s a wrap folks.

Let’s Animate runs on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 July, Thursday 28 and Friday 29 August from 9.30am – 4.30pm

Lights, Camera, Fireworks runs on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 July, Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 August from 9.30am – 4.30pm

Children should be between 7 and 10 years old; and will need to bring a packed lunch. Price for the workshop is £165/child; £135/child for Every House or Electric House members.
