Ally Capellino Bags London’s Brutalist Architecture

Ally Capellino didn’t have to go very far to find inspiration for their new AW14 collection… She just turned the corner from her Portobello store and had a good gawk at Trellick Tower.

The new season takes inspiration from the form, material and structure of London’s Brutalist buildings (a popular movement from the 1950s to the mid-1970s, and a reaction to the frivolity that characterised 1930s architecture…).

And in celebration of these London icons and the new collection, Ally Capellino’s Portobello shop will be hosting an architectural evening in collaboration with the Twentieth Century Society on Wednesday 27 August.

Henrietta Billings will give an illustrated talk on the iconic tower – with a five minute walk there – followed by drinks back at the shop

While to some the building is aesthetically – erm – challenging, we promise Ally’s bags are easy on the eye…
